The guiding statement of the African American Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame is: "True heroes are too overlooked." The founder of this Sports Hall, Arif Khatib, might also have been guided by an older, but altogether pertinent, line, courtesy of Mr. Longfellow: "Fame comes only when deserved, and then it is inevitable as destiny, for it is destiny."
