Dear Colleagues and Friends:
The Whitfield Foundation, headed by U.S. Olympic Champion, Mal
Whitfield, and following the publication of his new book, “Beyond the
Finish Line,” is pleased to announce a celebration of the “first 100
years” (1904-2004) of Black athletes’ participation in the modern
Olympic Games. In conjunction with IOKTS productions, we have produced
“CARRYING THE TORCH,” and 18-months educational calendar that
exhibits the pioneers, record-breakers and trend setting Olympic
athletes beginning from the year 1904 to these years’ Olympic Games in
Athens, Greece.
This calendar is the first of its kind that features such well-known
Olympians as Jesse Owens, Eddie Tolan, Ralph Metcalfe, Marion Jones,
Wilma Rudolph and other famous athletes. Also featured are relatively
unknown Olympians such as George Poage (the first Black in the Olympics
1904) John Taylor Baxter, DeHart Hubbard, Jose Andrade and many more
accomplished athletes. The photo images contained in the calendar are
frameable and include detailed biographies, Olympic facts, and daily
trivia highlighting significant dates in history on these magnificent
athletes.
This calendar preserves the great legacy of the “first 100 years”
of Blacks in the Olympic Games and is a must-have collectible and
keepsake treasure for those interested in sports, Olympics, history and
education.
To order copies of “CARRYING THE TORCH,” please contact the
Whitfield Foundation or IOKTS Productions.
For information on quantity orders feel free to contact us.
Meanwhile, continue to ‘CARRY THE TORCH.”
Sincerely,
Mal Whitfield
